Instructions

  1. Add 1 cup of water to the pot and place the steam rack or basket inside.
  2. Arrange broccoli florets on the rack in an even layer.
  3. Close the lid and steam for 2–3 minutes (0 minutes at pressure if using pressure steam; the come-up time is enough).
  4. Quick release and remove broccoli immediately.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon or pat of butter.

Notes

For softer broccoli, steam for 4–5 minutes. Be careful not to overcook; it goes from perfect to mushy quickly.
