Cornbread
Golden, slightly sweet cornbread with a tender crumb.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, and egg.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir until just mixed.
- Grease the pot and pour in the batter.
- Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes, until golden on top and a toothpick comes out clean.
Notes
Serve warm with butter and honey. Pairs perfectly with chili or soup.
