Open-Faced Caprese Melts

Toasted bread with fresh tomato, melted mozzarella, and basil.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Brush bread slices with olive oil on both sides.
  2. Broil bread for 1–2 minutes until lightly toasted on top. Flip and toast the other side.
  3. Layer tomato slices and mozzarella on each piece of toast. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Broil for 2–3 minutes until the mozzarella is melted and just starting to brown.
  5. Top with fresh basil and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use the best tomatoes you can find. Slow-roasted cherry tomatoes work well in winter.
