Slow Cooker Applesauce
Naturally sweet and better than anything from a jar.
Ingredients
- 3 lbs apples (about 8 medium), peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp sugar or honey (optional, depending on apple sweetness)
Instructions
- Add apples, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the pot. Stir.
- Slow cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until apples are completely soft.
- Mash with a fork for chunky applesauce, or blend with an immersion blender for smooth.
- Taste and stir in sugar or honey if needed.
Notes
Sweeter apples like Fuji or Gala need little to no added sugar. Mixing varieties (like Granny Smith with Honeycrisp) gives the best flavor. Keeps in the fridge for 2 weeks or freezes well.
